Swami Vivekananda who is the inspiration for millions of Indians youths. The
memorial is built in the place where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892. On
the same island you can see the temple and Shri Pada Pari the
footprints of the virgin goddess. Near to this rocky island there is one
more rocky island which few hundred metres away from this rock where
you can see the breath taking 133 ft tall statue of the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar.
Located on the shores of Kanyakumari beach Gandhi Memorial attracts huge
crowd of tourists. The ashes of Gandhi was kept in this memorial until it is
immersed in the sea. It is designed such that on 2nd October, his birthday,
the sun's rays fall directly on the place
through a hole
in the roof
where his ash
is kept.
